Moving forward.
We are delighted to see confidence growing within our Countrymen’s club. We have kept going all through the second lockdown in very small numbers, but it has made us realise the importance of small groups for the emotional welfare of our members. Many of our group have now received their second jab and the ones who live in care facilities, who haven’t been able to get back on the farm are now booked in for sessions throughout the summer.
We are also processing an influx of new enquiries which is fantastic news for the future of the club. The need for getting out of the house is even greater than before as the wives and carers I am sure will testify!
We have many projects on the go. Planting has started in the polytunnel and the vegetable patch is rotavated and ready to plant.
We have started lambing and one of the Limousin cows recently calved twins.
The countrymen have also enjoyed watching the construction of a new barn and they have been busy making bug hotels, butterfly houses and bird feeders. Some of our younger members have been updating the noticeboard and have produced some fantastic artwork.
We have lots of projects in the pipeline, but we have also appreciated family members providing us with some invaluable life history work which helps us to better tailor our approach to our members.
