Countrymen’s club special event for the Coronation.

On Tuesday 9th May the Countrymen’s club at Boyshill near Sherborne, hosted a special party for club members and friends of the club to celebrate the Coronation of King Charles III.

The weather thankfully stayed dry as the barn filled up with countrymen and their families. We were entertained by a wonderful trio called Doctor Jazz, who played a mix of easy listening music whilst vast quantities of cream teas were consumed!

We crowned our own King of the farm on a specially made throne, with a coat of arms designed for the event by Marc, one of our talented artists. Ken has been coming to the club for the last eight years, so we thought he deserved the title; King of the farm!

One of our team of volunteers, Harry Ridgewell was selected as a Coronation Champion by the RVS. Harry attended the concert at Windsor castle and he was presented with his badge and certificate by the deputy Major of Sherborne at our event. Harry was delighted to represent our team of volunteers on the day, who all help ensure that the men enjoy their afternoon in a safe environment.

We also planted a pear tree next to the Victoria plum we planted for the Queen’s platinum jubilee and finished the day with a rev up of vintage tractors.

The clouds opened just as the last person left the farm, so we were very grateful that it didn’t rain over us!
